Why swan boat races and a “Running of the Ducks”?
Lakeland has a wealth of lakes and is fortunate to have an abundance of swans and ducks who populate our lovely city. What could be more fun than celebrating our city’s lakes and feathered population by providing a family oriented outdoor event? This will be both fun for attendees and provide added funds for a most worthwhile cause in the care of Polk County residents.

What is the “Running of the Ducks”?
The Running of the Ducks will feature over 1,000 rubber ducks racing over a short designated course. Ducks are available for public adoption at $10 each.

Who can own/ride a swan?
Only Triple Crown sponsors will be able to own/ride a swan in the main Derby race. As part of their sponsorship they may designate their own jockeys for the race.
